Financial Development/Business Plan

SBHCs know that financial sustainability is a top priority
and for many SBHCs it is a top worry.

Developing a business plan is an important tool your SBHC can use to:

  1. Help ensure long-term survival of your organization.
  2. Facilitate managing a complex organization.
  3. Establish community trust and support.
  4. Facilitate procurement of funds.
  5. Develop a plan to increase revenue.

The plan can be useful for starting a SBHC because:

  1. It covers the financial concerns you need to plan for when starting a SBHC
  2. It organizes concerns for planning purposes
  3. It develops detail for each concern
  4. It points out strengths and weaknesses of plans
  5. It shows funders SBHC has done its homework
  6. Portions can be used to develop grant proposals
  7. Portions can be used for public meeting presentations

The plan can be useful for an existing SBHC because:

  1. It shows funders SBHC has done its homework
  2. Portions can be used to develop grant proposals
  3. Portions can be used for public meeting presentations
  4. It helps manager prioritize efforts
  5. It helps SBHC plan for sustainability
